1) The Churchill III - this tier 2 BEF tank fell quite conveniantly out of the modeling work required for the tier 3 Churchill VII, and is thus close to complete (if not already, I think we still have final road testing to do) ... it would be great if it could be in the game for the next campaign, but that requires a patch and we're not certain it's that good an idea to patch right now, there is some stuff currently in beta that is not fully Q&A'd and we have the lowest CTD record we've seen for a very long time with the current live client you're using now, so with v1.21 just around the corner it may be better to wait until then. Every patch that is done comes with the risk of new CTD or code related preoblems you didn't plan on dealing with when you decided to patch again.

2) The new ATG's - yup we're doing the tier 3 ATG's (PaK.40/17pdr./3"M5) as these were the most likely candidates for a new vehicle weapons set that we could do in the short time leading up to the Christmas patch. We have hit a time snag here however, and while we do very much want these to make the Christmas patch, it may happen that they don't. We will try and see that they do make it, but it might be worth while to expect that time may defeat us here, certainly this is why other vehicles the community was hoping for were definately not possible to fit into a short dev. cycle. If the ATG's don't make it for a week or two after, more complex vehicles had no chance whatsoever.

3) We also reworked the damage thresholds for tracked vehicles. Basically no 20mm weapon (or smaller) can track an AFV now, although it may still be possible to damage a wheeled vehicle such as a truck or armoured car with 20mm weapons.

4) Another area we identified an issue with that has haunted us for some time, one that we could finally fix, was the issue of how spall is generated. In the past, spall was too easily generated with non penetrating hits on AFVs that would probably not have created spall in some cases. We found a way to tighten this up so that now only non penetrating hits that finish up very close to penetrating will create spall. This will reduce the amount of hit impacts that create spall, which will mean less damage to crews and their vehicles from spall hits to crew or fuel/ammo storage than we may be seeing in game at the present time.

There are a number of other areas that recieved some attention through the week. All the things mentioned in Gophurs last prod.update (last week) before he took off for Thanksgiving are still underway here, and it is our hope that we can build a kickass patch in v1.21 and get it to you for the Christmas present we want it to be. It has been a short dev. cycle compared to most, the transition from the unusally very long v1.20 dev. cycle where we redid so much of the core or base code has meant a slightly weird re-entry to a more "regular" patch cycle state, but after this and the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday phase passing we should have a regular schedule back underway and a very good 2006 year of development looks to be ahead of us, with some very cool things to come to the game we all love and hate so much.
